UK detective changed with leaking informationLONDON (AP) — British prosecutors have accused a senior detective of misconduct for allegedly leaking information to the now-defunct News of the World tabloid. The Crown Prosecution Service said Monday that Chief Inspector April Casburn has been charged with misconduct in public office for allegedly giving the Rupert Murdoch-owned tabloid information in September 2010. She is due to appear at Westminster Magistrates' Court on Oct. 1 The charge has been brought as part of Operation Elveden, an investigation being run in conjunction with probes into phone hacking. The investigations follow revelations that reporters at Murdoch's News of the World tabloid routinely intercepted voicemails of those in the public eye. |
