UPDATE:  CNN says the FAA has told U.S. airlines that they are prohibited from flying to or from Israel's Ben Gurion Airport for a period of up to 24 hours.

"The notice was issued in response to a rocket strike which landed approximately one mile from" the airport on Tuesday morning, the FAA said.

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- The US is warning Americans not to travel near the Israeli crisis.  Secretary of State John Kerry was in Cairo Monday, calling for a cease-fire.  A shelling at a hospital in Gaza killed at least five people inside.

Israel says it's targeting a tunnel system used by Hamas to move weapons and militants across the border.  The two-week long flare-up has claimed more than 500 lives.
