CHARLOTTE , N.C. - Members of FDNY Engine 217 were recently in Charlotte to participate in the F.F. Coakley Foundation Tunnel to Towers fundraiser events. Now, they need our help. And this morning Wilson was there as members of our local fire fighters community were working together to fill a trailer to send much needed supplies to New York fire fighters who were hit by Hurricane Sandy. This is not only a community project, but a personal project as well for Charlotte fire fighters.
Members and volunteers with the F.F. Steven Cockley Foundation are not only coming together to get supplies and transport them to New York, but they are also going with the truck to distribute the supplies and even help with clean up.
The drive today runs until 12:00 pm at the The Palmer Building , 2601 E. 7th Street, Charlotte, NC 28204. The drive will continue on Thur, Nov. 15th 6:00 am – 12:00 pm @ Callabridge Court Shopping Center, 9725 Callabridge Ct, Charlotte, NC 28216. (Exit 16 -Mt. Holly/Huntersville Road off I-485).
Not only can you drop off supplies, but they will also take cash donations which will be used to purchase supplies before they take off for New York. Some of the things they are need of are industrial cleaning supplies and items such as industrial size garbage bags, mops, buckets and even wheel barrows and construction items. Please go to the weblink listed below for a full list of items needed.
A special thanks goes out to Golden State Foods and McDonalds for providing the tractor trailer and driver needed to transport the supplies to New York.
