Dr. Tony Hyser: Pro's & Con's of Different Peanut Butter

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- There's so many kinds of peanut butter, but do you know which kind is best for you?

Dr. Tony Hyser, of Providence Health Center, is breaking down the pro's and con's.

According to the National Peanut Butter Board it takes 540 peanuts to make a 12 oz jar of peanut butter.

Hyser says conventional peanut butter has trans fat and sugar. He also says you can use almond butter as a good alternative.

Peanuts are sprayed with pesticides when they are grown.

Organic peanut butter has an increased level of aflatoxin.

Natural peanut butter is usually just made of peanuts and salts, and can tend to have more oil in it. Hyser recommends pouring out some of the oil, stirring the peanut butter to make it creamy and then refrigerating it.
