Charlotte, N.C. - Wilson was at East Mecklenburg High School today where it got pretty loud when they kicked off their annual 6 week Student Hunger Drive. Twenty schools in the Charlotte area (both in N.C. and S.C.) are participating in this year's event. Through all types of community events, contests and school activities students compete with other schools to see which school can collect the most pounds of food per student.
100% of the food that is donated goes back to families living in Charlotte area through the Second Harvest Food Bank's network of pantries.
Winning schools are awarded cash prizes to fund school projects, programs or supplies.
