CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Charlotte Fire Department's Firestation #27 is a second home to Jimmy Watts who is also the "gas man" on Bobby Labonte's #47 pit crew. Today Wilson visited Jimmy at the University City fire station where some of their firefighters and members of Labonte's pit crew switched places and went head to head in competition. Find out who gets "hosed down" when the pit crew members race to put on the firefighter's gear while the firefighters race to change tires on a race car. Some things aren't quite as easy to do as they look!
Wilson also had the opportunity to talk with Jay Howard, President of JHE Production Group and producer of the Pit Crew Challenge and Gary Smith the pit crew coach for the #47 team.
The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Pit Crew Challenge is this Thursday, May 17th at Time Warner Cable Arena. Members of the FOX Charlotte News staff will also be at the challenge..come and cheer them on!
