CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- We start with a recent sermon by Baltimore Pastor Jamal Bryant who incorporated a Chris Brown lyric into his message.

His comments are  raising the question: What's okay to include in a sermon in an effort to connect with the audience?

Another question is how much is popular culture being reflected in the pulpit these days?

UNC Charlotte Professor of Religious Studies, Joseph Winters, lends perspective to that question.
