Novant Health House Call: The Baby Bust

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- You've heard about the post-World War Two Baby Boom, but how about the Baby Bust? Novant Health is making a house call to inform us about a study regarding the recession's effect on the maternity wards.

Dr. Tiffani Jones, with Novant Health Providence has been studying the Baby Bust.

She says the sharp decline in fertility rates beginning in 2008 is closely linked to the economic downturn. More women delayed motherhood until their 40's. Childcare is very expensive and there are also a lot of women who are more driven in their professional field.
