CHARLOTTE, N.C. -  If you are a baseball fan in Charlotte,  you couldn't have asked for better weather for the Charlotte Knights home opener tonight at their new home, the BB&T Ballpark.

Wilson was at the ballpark today as the team and the city get geared up for all of the events leading up to tonight's first pitch.  With clear skies and temps in the 70s, it's sure to be a party all day today.

After meeting up with Knights mascot Homer and watching the sun come up over the ballpark, Wilson went inside the Knights team store to all geared up for the events leading up to tonight's home opener.  The team store will be open today to the general public from 10am until 4:30pm.

Events begin Uptown at Romare Bearden Park at noon when Carolina Panthers mascot Sir Purr and the Carolina Panthers Purrcussion kick off the fun at 11:55am.  Food trucks, vendors, beverages, music, loads of kids activities and even a visit from the Budweiser Clydesdales will keep things going until the game.  For Knights ticket holders, the gates to BB&T will open at 5:00pm.  Check out all of today's festivities HERE.

The first pitch will be thrown at 7:05pm when the temperature in the park should be a comfortable 72 degrees.  There will be fireworks after the game.  And after the last inning, stop by and say hi to the WCCB News @ Ten and WCCB News Edge gang as they do the shows live from Romare Bearden Park right after the baseball game.

If you can't make the game, be sure to tune in the WCCB News @ Ten and WCCB News Edge for their live broadcast after the game.
