HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. - The students from Stacey Powers' class at Highland Mill Montessori School had the good fortune to skip class and enjoy their school day at the Carolina Renaissance Festival with Wilson. This group of elementary students won the FOX Charlotte essay contest with their very imaginative entry about Elizabeth, the new friend they met when they took a trip into their time machine back into the Renaissance time period.
The kids decided they would rather do their homework than be subjected to "the rack" in the dungeon. It was all fun as the students learned about life during the Renaissance.
The Carolina Renaissance Festival is located on Poplar Tent Road in Huntersville and is open weekends only through November 18th. Check their weblink below for hours, tickets prices and more information on the events they are having.
