MATTHEWS, N.C. - Wilson was joined by Baltimore Ravens Wide Receiver Steve Smith and his wife Angie at the starting line of today's Lace Up Son 5K.  The 5K event is the brainchild of Smith and his wife as part of his Steve Smith Family Foundation. Wilson took the opportunity to talk with Steve and Angie about the 5K, the purpose behind the Foundation and the organizations they are working with.  Over 500 runners signed up for the inaugural run of the 5K with plans to grown to over the years.

Wilson brought us the start of the 5K live on Rising and then later headed over to the end of the race to greet and talk with some of the runners as they crossed the finish line.

After the race everyone is invited to return to the Siskey YMCA for a pancake breakfast and celebration including recognition of men and women in the military, a kids fun run, inflatables, music, group exercise classes, admission to the outdoor pool and more!

The USO of North Carolina, which is an organization close to Wilson's heart, is only one of the organizations that benefit from and are being honored by the Foundation.   The Foundation also partners with the Siskey YMCA  helping kids who can't afford it attend the YMCA and become involved.

The Lace Up Son 5K is just one of many events that are part of the Steve Smith Family Foundation.  The foundation is Steve's way of giving back to the community that he and his family love and have been a part of for so long.
