CHARLOTTE,  N.C. -  Students from Mallard Creek High School's National Honor Society have been working hard to get ready for this weekend's Run Like a Warrior 5K.  The 5K is an event to raise funds for The Wounded Warrior Project.  Wilson talked with students who are involved with getting the event going.

But for Kari Rhoades who is the advisor for the students in the National Honor Society this is a very personal project.  Kari's cousin,  CPO Matt Mason was a Navy Seal who had suffered severe injury and was given exception medical care and support through Wounded Warrior Project.  He was able to return to the field to serve his country but unfortunately lost his life in 2011 while serving in Afghanistan.

The Run Like a Warrior 5K for Wounded Warrior Project  is this Saturday, April 27th.  Registration begins at 8:45am at Mallard Creek High School, 3825 Johnston Oehler Rd in Charlotte.  You can register on-line or at the race.  More information on the run as well as a brief biography of  CPO Matt Mason can be found on the 5k's weblink below.
