CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Wilson was at Second Harvest Food Bank today where he was continuing to find out more about  National Volunteer Week and Hands on Charlotte Day this Saturday, April 12th.

Second Harvest Food Bank has been a part of the community since 1981 and provides food and nutritional education to those in need.  HOC provided over 1,500 volunteer hours to Second Harvest last year.  All ages volunteers are needed.

The Charlotte Nature Museum is another great partner with Hands on Charlotte.  Volunteers have been helping the museum as part of HOC Day for over 5 years.  This year volunteers will help prepare for spring and the Charlotte Nature Museum's first Night Out for Nature fundraiser on April 26th.

Each year Hands on Charlotte Day has brought together as many as 1,000 volunteers participating in diverse projects.  There are projects all across the Charlotte area that people can sign up and volunteer to help with.  From something as simple as sorting donated clothing and preparing care packages for children to as physical as clearing debris in neighborhoods or landscaping around schools, there is  a project that fits every volunteer.  Projects take place from 9am until 12 noon.  When the day comes to a close, a large party will be held for the volunteers at VBGB from 12pm until 3pm.

You can still register and pick your favorite project with which to volunteer.  There is no registration on the day of the event.  To register click HERE.
