CHARLOTTE, N.C. -   Our own Jon Wilson was with former Carolina Panthers Tight End Wesley Walls at OrthoCarolina Research Institute discussing the upcoming I-PASS event when the topic of the rumors of Panthers Wide Receiver Steve Smith leaving the team was brought up.

Having been through some similar circumstances, Walls says he feels that Steve is more aware of the situation than the public and that Steve knows what he would like to do.  Walls told Wilson that Steve Smith is "the best Panther ever, no doubt."  " We have some great players here, and no disrespect to anyone who has worn the Panther jersey ever, but that guy is one of the most fiercest competitors I have ever been around.  And he's a play maker."

Walls said that if something does happen and Smith is no longer with the team that the fans should remember the great plays that he has made during his years with the Panthers.  However, Walls is hoping that come football season Smith will be coming through the tunnel in the #89 jersey.
