CHARLOTTE, N.C.  - Wilson was at Garinger High School where he was outside with students, teachers and volunteers that were busy working in their Friendship Garden.  Friendship Gardens is an expanding network of community, school, faith-based, institutional, public, private, and backyard gardens. The gardens grow healthy food, making it available to all, especially those with limited access while sharing knowledge and passion for sustainable food production.

The garden at Garinger HS garden is only one of the  Friendship Gardens throughout the Charlotte area that supply fresh foods to Friendship Trays.  Friendship Trays is a program that delivers over 600 meals each day in the Charlotte area to elderly, handicapped, and convalescing people who are unable or greatly restricted in their ability to prepare or secure meals.
