CHARLOTTE, N.C.--Wilson is hanging out with firefighters from North and South Carolina as they join their Florida counterparts to cycle more than 400 miles in five days to pay tribute to fallen firefighters.

They started their journey Monday in Wilmington and will finish in Asheville on July 27.

The inaugural event is dedicated to Asheville Fire Captain Jeff Bowen.

On July 28, 2011, the Asheville Fire Department responded to a high rise fire in a medical office building. Bowen, of Rescue Company #3, died while searching for victims.

Cyclists will average 75 miles a day and will end with a 6,000-foot elevation climb into downtown Asheville.
