HORSE RACING-KENTUCKY DERBY

On to Maryland

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) — Now we wait two weeks to see if there will be a Triple Crown possibility this year. After 15-1 shot I'll Have Another won the Kentucky Derby, trainer Doug O'Neill says his horse will be ready for the Preakness at Pimlico.

I'll Have Another used a strong stretch run to overtake Bodemeister (BOH'-dee-my-stur) and beat the pre-race favorite to the finish line in the mile-and-a-quarter test at Churchill Downs.

NBA PLAYOFFS-SCHEDULE

76ers and banged-up Bulls have first tip

UNDATED (AP) __ The top seed in the NBA's Eastern Conference playoffs is trying to avoid going down 3-1 in its opening-round series. The Chicago Bulls are in Philadelphia this afternoon for the first of four games on the pro hoops slate (1 p.m. Eastern). The Bulls have lost two straight after star guard Derrick Rose suffered a season-ending knee injury late in Game 1. And Chicago forward Joakim Noah (JOH'-keem NOH'-ah) is being held out of the lineup after spraining his left ankle in Game 3.

Also today, Miami goes for a series sweep at New York, Boston hosts Atlanta holding a 2-1 series lead and the L.A. Lakers bring a 2-1 advantage over the Nuggets into tonight's game in Denver.

UNDATED (AP) — After sweeping top-seeded Vancouver out of the Western Conference playoffs in the opening round, the Kings are hoping to do the same to the second-seeded Blues. Los Angeles brings a 3-0 series lead into today's game in St. Louis

Later in New Jersey, the Devils will be looking to grab a 3-1 lead over the Flyers with a third straight victory over Philadelphia.

MLB-SCHEDULE HIGHLIGHTS

Rangers rookie looking to remain undefeated

UNDATED (AP) — The Rangers have their prized rookie on the mound for this afternoon's series finale in Cleveland. Yu Darvish is 4-0 since coming over from Japan in the offseason. AL West leader Texas won yesterday's contest with the Central Division-leading Indians to end a season-high three-game losing streak.

It's one game on a full Sunday schedule that includes a night game in Washington. The NL East-leading Nationals bring a four-game winning streak into their matchup with the division-rival Phillies, who will be looking to avoid a three-game sweep.

PGA-WELLS FARGO CHAMPIONSHIP

Simpson the one to catch

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — Webb Simpson began his day with a one-stroke lead at the Wells Fargo Championship in Charlotte, North Carolina. The hometown favorite dropped to 14 under par with yesterday's 3-under 69.

Ryan Moore and D.A. Points were 13 under after 54 holes at Quail Hollow.

Rory McIlroy is coming off a sizzling 6-under 66 that left him two shots off the pace and tied with second-round leader Nick Watney.

McIlroy will return to No. 1 in the world by finishing seventh or better.

Lehman has company

THE WOODLANDS, Texas (AP) — The final round of the Champions Tour event near Houston got under way with first-round leader Tom Lehman (LAY'-muhn) and Fred Funk sharing a one-stroke lead. They were 9 under through two rounds.

NASCAR-TALLADEGA

Gordon leads field to green flag

TALLADEGA, Ala. (AP) — Jeff Gordon has won the pole for today's Sprint Cup race at Talladega Superspeedway.

It's the 71st time in his career starting from the inside of row one.

AJ Allmendinger has the outside pole for the first restrictor-plate race since the season-opening Dayton 500.

Mayweather takes title from Cotto

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Floyd Mayweather Jr. used his speed and accuracy to win a unanimous decision Saturday night over a game Miguel Cotto in one of his toughest fights ever.

Mayweather dominated late, rocking Cotto in the 12th round to pull out a win and remain unbeaten in 43 fights

Mayweather won Cotto's 154-pound title in the fight, which two judges scored 117-111 and the third 118-110.
