DENVER (AP) — Corey Brewer had 26 points, including 15 in the fourth quarter to lead Denver to a 121-118 overtime win over Oklahoma City. The results reversed a 20-point loss to the Thunder of Wednesday. Kevin Durant scored 37 and Russell Westbrook added 36 for the Thunder who saw their six-game winning streak end.
MELBOURNE, Australian (AP) — Top-seed Victoria Azarenka has moved into the quarterfinals of the Australian Open with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Elena Vesnina. It took the defending champ just 57 minutes to close out the match.
BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) — Thomas Vanek got off to a flying start to the NHL season with two goals and three assists in Buffalo's 5-2 win over Philadelphia. Vanek's first goal tied the game at 2-all and he then assists on the go-ahead tally by Tyler Myers in the third period.
KAUPULEHU-KONA, Hawaii (AP) — John Cook birdied the second playoff hole to edge David Frost and win the Champions Tour's Mitsubishi Electric Championship. Cook shot a 5-under 67 that included a 25-foot birdie putt on the 18th hole to force the playoff. Frost closed with a 69.
NEW YORK (AP) — Larry Fitzgerald of the Arizona Cardinals, Cleveland's Joe Thomas and Jason Witten of the Dallas Cowboys are finalists for the Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year award. The honor recognizes a player's community service as well as his playing excellence. The Walter Payton winner will be announced Feb. 2 and have a $20,000 donation made in his name to his favorite charity.
