SPARTANBURG, S.C. (AP) — Davidson senior forward Jake Cohen has been named the Southern Conference player of the year by both the media and head coaches, and Wildcats coach Bob McKillop was again voted coach of the year by his peers.
Cohen is just the 14th player in league history to earn player of the year from the media in back-to-back seasons and the first since former Davidson star Stephen Curry.
Davidson's De'Mon Brooks, Elon's Lucas Troutman, Greensboro's Trevis Simpson, Western Carolina's Trey Sumler were also named to both first teams.
Samford's Tim Williams was named freshman of the year in both polls.
McKillop, the league's all-time winningest coach, guided the Wildcats to a 23-7 overall record and 17-1 conference mark. Matt Matheny of Elon was voted coach of the year by the media.
