DAVIDSON, N.C. (AP) — Five years after Stephen Curry put Davidson on the basketball map the Wildcats are hoping to make another run in the NCAA tournament.
But first they have to get there.
The Wildcats are hoping to earn an automatic bid to the big dance by winning the Southern Conference championship, which begins Friday in Asheville, N.C.
If they can repeat as champions, the veteran-laden team which finished 17-1 in conference play and won its final 14 games believes it has a chance to pull off a few miracles of its own.
Wildcats guard JP Kulman says "if I'm a team in the NCAA tournament, I know Davidson is one team I wouldn't want to play. We have so many weapons, so I think we would be a dangerous first round team."
