AVONDALE, Ariz. (AP) — Danica Patrick's experience at the Indianapolis 500 helped her handle the frenzy that came with the Daytona 500.

Already one of the most popular drivers in auto racing, Patrick became the center of attention last weekend at Daytona, where she became the first woman to win a Sprint Cup pole and the first to lead green-flag laps.

The accomplishments sent Danicamania into high gear, her face appearing all over the news, everyone watching her every move, even the daughters of fellow drivers asking to meet her.

Patrick handled the attention well and was good on the track, too, finishing eighth after leading five laps.

Now she's ready to move on to the rest of the season, starting this weekend at Phoenix International Raceway.
