RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) — Lorenzo Brown scored 21 points as North Carolina State beat Division II Belmont Abbey 105-80 in an exhibition game Saturday afternoon.
The Wolfpack was playing its lone exhibition game before its season opener on Nov. 9 against Miami (OH). They committed 11 turnovers in the first half but still shot 57.1 percent from the field to take a 50-43 halftime lead.
In the second half, NC State turned defensive pressure into a variety of block shots, steals and dunks as the Wolfpack pushed the lead to 62-51 in the first five minutes, then went on a 21-0 run during the next five minutes.
T.J. Warren and Richard Howell added 19 points apiece for NC State. C.J. Leslie had 18 points and Rodney Purvis added 10 points.
Belmont Abbey, coming off a 15-12 season, was led by senior guard Tyshawn Good with 17 points. Guard Chris Davis added 13.
