Panthers' Cam Newton To Undergo Ankle Surgery
CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton will undergo ankle surgery on Wednesday.
Newton has been experiencing pain since he rolled his ankle in a game against the San Francisco 49ers.
The procedure will tighten ankle ligaments. It will be performed at Carolinas Medical Center.
Newton is expected to return to practice in July or August.
“The ankle was sore after the San Francisco game and we wanted to see if rest would calm it down, but it is still bothering him and the decision was made to address it,” says Panthers Head Athletic Trainer Ryan Vermillion.
