Steve Smith on Crutches due to Foot InfectionCHARLOTTE, N.C.--The Carolina Panthers returned to the practice field Wednesday after having a day off to rest. The team's star receiver did not participate. Instead of making catches during practice, Steve Smith was seen on crutches. The Panthers' wideout has an infection in his left foot. The good news is that it doesn't seem to be that serious. The Panthers are serious when it comes to taking care of business this preseason. Head coach Ron Rivera said that his starters will likely play into the 3rd quarter this weekend against the Jets. Rivera says Sunday's game in New York will be a good challenge for his team. |
