QB Renner ready to lead UNC's no-huddle attack

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (AP) — North Carolina junior Bryn Renner says he's ready to lead the Tar Heels' no-huddle spread offense under new coach Larry Fedora.

The quarterback says he had a tough spring as he tried to adjust to the new scheme while still recovering from offseason surgery on his left ankle. But he studied film, worked with his receivers and got in better shape through the summer leading up to training camp.

Fedora says Renner has come "a long, long way" leading up to Saturday's opener against Elon.

Renner threw for 3,086 yards and 26 touchdowns last year in his first season as the starting quarterback. But he says he needs to cut down on his 13 interceptions, especially with Fedora telling him to protect the football as one of his top priorities.
