Tar Heels next up in Virginia's bowl driveCHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (AP) — Virginia would like to use the spotlight of a Thursday night game to show the Cavaliers really are on their way up, even if their record suggests otherwise. The Cavaliers (4-6, 2-4 Atlantic Coast Conference) host North Carolina on Thursday night. The Tar Heels are hoping to play the role of spoiler and end Virginia's late-season, win-or-else drive to become bowl eligible. Virginia has won two in a row after a six-game losing streak. It still needs to beat the Tar Heels and then Virginia Tech in next weekend's regular season finale to qualify for a bowl game. North Carolina (6-4, 3-3) is ineligible for postseason play this year because of an NCAA ban. Tar Heels tailback Gio Bernard says "we're all about trying to spoil other people's stuff." |
