CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (AP) — James Michael McAdoo is still learning how to be North Carolina's go-to guy, from facing high expectations as an NBA prospect to overcoming defenses aiming to frustrate him.
The 6-foot-9 sophomore is averaging about 15 points and eight rebounds heading into Saturday night's trip to No. 18 North Carolina State. He says he plans to "just keep playing and keep working" to develop his game and that he remains confident despite some ups and downs this year.
N.C. State coach Mark Gottfried says he's noticed McAdoo playing with more urgency recently and that he's "taken on the responsibility to be one of the hardest working players on the floor."
The Tar Heels (13-5, 3-2 Atlantic Coast Conference) have won 13 straight against the rival Wolfpack dating to February 2007.
