North Carolina, Coastal Carolina to play Gamecocks
COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — South Carolina's non-conference football games next year include a season opener against North Carolina and a first-ever matchup with state Football Championship Subdivision program Coastal Carolina.
The Gamecocks also head to Central Florida and close the year with their annual contest against rival Clemson. South Carolina announced the non-conference opponents Wednesday. It had earlier released its Southeastern Conference schedule.
The 2013 season starts at Williams-Brice Stadium on Aug. 31st against the Tar Heels, a team South Carolina has not hosted since 1990. After games with Georgia and Vanderbilt, the Gamecocks play at Central Florida on Sept. 28th.
South Carolina plays six straight SEC games after that before closing out the season at home against Coastal Carolina on Nov. 23rd and Clemson on Nov. 30th.
