UNION COUNTY, N.C. -- The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating a small plane crash in Waxhaw. According to a FAA spokeswoman, they received information that an amateur-built Sonex single engine plane crashed around 3:15 p.m. on Friday. The pilot reported a mechanical problem on board before crashing into trees near Davis Road.
Authorities say the pilot was the only person on board and received minor injuries.
According to the FAA website, the plane is owned by Michael Crowder, of Cary, NC. Stay tuned for more on this developing story on WCCB News @ Ten.
