CHARLOTTE, N.C. - At 8:30am this Saturday, Sept 7th the annual 9-11 Memorial Stair Climb will kick off in Uptown Charlotte. Wilson was outside of the Duke Energy Building today where the climb will take place talking with area firefighters who are a part of this nationwide event. The stair climb in Charlotte will not only include firefighters but also police officers and EMS providers.
The 9-11 Memorial Stair Climb originated in 2005 when five firefighters got together to climb 110 flights of a high rise building in downtown Denver in memory of their fellow firefighters who were killed in the terrorists attacks of 9-11. Since then it has grown to include 35 cities across the United States. The firefighters participating in the event will not only be fully loaded with all of their gear, but each will be carrying a picture of one of their own who died during 9/11.
The 9-11 Memorial Stair Climb not only honors those who died, but also raises funds for the National Fallen Fire Fighters Foundation. Bring the kids to Uptown Charlotte at 8:30am Saturday morning and let these first responders know how much they are appreciated.
