Stats Show The 2017 Angel Tree Campaign Was A Huge Success

CHARLOTTE, NC — Results from the 2017 Subway Salvation Army Angel Tree project were released Thursday, and it was a HUGE success!

The Salvation Army of Charlotte released a breakdown of this years numbers, and offered a big thank you to donors and everyone involved.

Officials say 10,778 children were served this past Christmas following the campaign.

The following is a breakdown of donations and adoptions for just the Charlotte area:

  • The Subway Angels brought in 786 toys.
  • 1,870 Angels were adopted at public locations throughout the city, and 1,479 (79%) of those adoptions were returned.
  • Online, 797 virtual Angels were adopted, with 664 (83%) being returned. Officials say that makes the 2017 Virtual Angel Tree the most successful year to date.
  • On average, donors spent roughly $140 on Angel Tree gifts, which included 1,354 bikes and 1,824 large or special handling type items.
  • And 1,714 people volunteered at the Christmas Center, putting in 6,151 hours of volunteer time.

During a luncheon Thursday, Subway was awarded the Community Partner Award and SouthPark was presented with the Extra Mile Award.
