Man Arrested For Impersonating FBI Agent At Scene Of East Charlotte Wreck
CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department say they arrested a man who impersonated a FBI agent and helped direct traffic at the scene of a wreck in east Charlotte.
On September 20th around 5:30pm, officers from CMPD responded to an accident that happened on E. WT Harris near Hickory Grove Road.
Upon arrival, officers say they saw a man assisting with traffic control, wearing a shirt with ‘Federal Investigator’ printed on it and driving a dark blue Chevrolet Impala with blue and red LED lights.
Officers say the man identified himself as Christopher Jones, with the FBI. After further investigation, detectives identified Christopher Jones as 34-year-old Antoine Jones.
On September 21st, detectives executed a search warrant at Jones’ home on Parkland Circle. During the search, officers found multiple firearms, a Chevrolet Impala outfitted with blue lights, sirens and a mounted computer, a tactical vest, FBI shirts and other clothing, and a police radio.
Jones has been charged with impersonating law enforcement and using blue lights on a vehicle. Anyone who may have been victimized or has information about this investigation or the suspect is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.
