Lawrence Gilligan

Emmy award winner Lawrence Gilligan joined WCCB Charlotte in August of 2022 and is part of the ensemble of talent on WCCB News Rising.

He looks forward to bringing you the latest news and laughs in the early mornings.

Prior to joining WCCB Charlotte, Lawrence spent more than 10 plus years in the sports world in Waco, TX, Albuquerque, NM as well as the Queen City.

Some of his favorite memories are covering Britney Griner and the Baylor Bears in the Final Four as well as the Carolina Panthers in Super Bowl 50.

After stepping away from journalism for a few years, Lawrence is excited to jump back into the newsroom providing local stories that have a voice for the community.

Prior to joining WCCB, Lawrence spent the past couple of years as a SAG-AFTRA actor in various tv and film productions across the country. Acting will forever be a passion of his.

Lawrence graduated from the University of New Mexico with a bachelor’s degree in mass communications with an emphasis in broadcast journalism. A Bay Area California native, he follows the Golden State Warriors and Oakland A’s passionately.

In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his wife Eryn and taking their dog Izzy to the park and on long walks, including any activities with a tennis ball or treats.
