Suspect Admits To Killing Man During Charlotte Protests
CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Prosecutors say the man accused of shooting a protester in Uptown Charlotte Wednesday admitted to the crime.
Investigators say Rayquan Borum shot and killed Justin Carr in front of the Omni Hotel. Dozens of protesters had gathered in the area following the shooting death of Keith Lamont Scott.
Borum is accused of shooting Carr as protesters were trying to gain entry into the Omni. The hotel was blocked by CMPD officers in riot gear.
Carr was rushed to a local hospital where he later died. Police have not said if Borum and Carr knew each other.
Some protesters claim Carr was shot by a CMPD officer.
