Low Lake Levels Force More Temporary Ramp Closures On Lake Wylie

LAKE WYLIE — Duke Energy officials say they are continuing to monitor lake levels at area boat ramps as drought conditions continue across the area.

Officials say low levels have forced the closure of two more ramps at the Allison Creek Access Area and two ramps at the Buster Boyd Access Area. Barriers have been put into place for the public’s safety, according to a release.

The Catawba-Wateree River Basin remains in a Stage 1 drought, according to officials. Duke Energy says they will continue to monitor the situation on Lake Wylie and make more closures if they become necessary.

Note: Small carry, or non-motorized, boats will continue to have lake access when ramps are closed.

  • South Point : 6 ramps open but could be affected with decreasing lake levels
  • Nivens Creek: 2 of 2 ramps open and unlikely to be affected in the near-term
  • Buster Boyd : 2 of 4 ramps open
  • Allison Creek: all 4 ramps closed
  • Ebenezer: all 4 ramps closed by York County
