CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Seven people are displaced after a fire on Tremaine Court in East Charlotte. The fire started around 3 a.m. Sunday at the Devonshire Condominiums.
Firefighters said when they arrived they saw fire conditions coming through the roof. A woman who was trapped on the second floor by intense fire and smoke was able to break a window. Charlotte-Mecklenburg officers below convinced the woman to jump into their arms.
There were no injuries involved with the blaze. CFD was able to rescue three dogs and reunite them with their owners. It took 64 firefighters to extinguish the blaze in 38 minutes.
The American Red Cross is assisting the displaced people. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
