Aircraft Found in Lake Norman Under Investigation By FAA

LAKE NORMAN, N.C. – The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating after an aircraft was found in Lake Norman. According to a spokesman with the agency, on September 9, the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office contacted the FAA after a search for a drowning victim revealed the aircraft.

The aircraft type has not been identified and authorities do not know how it ended up in the lake.

The FAA is conducting a search of the aircraft ownership records in an effort to determine the aircraft’s last owner.
