CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The Charlotte City Council has appointed four local residents to serve on the Charlotte Douglas International Airport Commission. Under the law creating the Airport Commission, the City of Charlotte is given seven appointments; four by the Council and three by Mayor Kinsey.
The Council’s appointees to the Commission are:
• Pamela Bennett, of Bank of America and a current member of the Airport Advisory Committee
• Anthony Fox, a Partner and attorney at Parker Poe and resident of the West Side
• Robert Stolz, former Chairman of the North Carolina Chamber of Commerce and CEO of the Wurth Group North America, a business located near the airport
• Pamela Syfert, former Charlotte City Manager
Council’s criteria for selection included areas of expertise critical to the Airport’s success. The appointees bring a cross-section of experience in municipal government, the law, business, economic development and operations at Charlotte Douglas International Airport.
Appointments had to be made to the commission by October 1.
Mayor Kinsey will make her appointments to the commission by October 1. Mecklenburg County’s appointment is also pending. At Monday’s City Council meeting, the Mayor asked that the commission wait until all members are appointed before the first meeting is scheduled.
