CMPD Working To Get Charges Dropped After Innocent Teen Arrested

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — CMPD is working with the DA’s Office to get charges dismissed against a teen that was arrested for several breaking and entering cases and a police chase.

Detectives say evidence indicated that Milton Dunlap was not involved or present during the initial breaking and entering cases or in the vehicle that led police on a pursuit throughout Charlotte on September 24th.

Investigators say there was no physical evidence including DNA, fingerprints or video surveillance connecting Dunlap to any of the crimes.

Now, police are working closely with the DA’s Office to get all of his charges dismissed and his record expunged.  They also removed his court ordered electronic monitoring device.

Dunlap’s family has been very outspoken since his arrest.  They held a news conference at police headquarters saying their son was wrongfully arrested last week.

Dunlap was charged with assault on a government official, three counts of breaking and entering, conspiracy, flee to elude arrest, hit and run, three counts of larceny, three counts of possession of stolen goods, reckless driving and resisting an officer.
