CHARLOTTE,NC–Stop over testing our kids is the message from some teachers, parents and students to the CMS board of Education.
The board met Thursday to discuss a number of topics including MLS tests or measures of student learning.
Members of the Charlotte Mecklenburg Board on Educators held a rally outside the government center, saying MLS’s are a waste on time, money, and resources and should be scrapped.
The MLS tests are mandated in North Carolina as part of the “Race to the top” grant and ” No Child left behind.”
Both require teachers to be evaluated in part based on student test scores.
