CHARLOTTE, N.C. – This morning, part of a busy Elizabeth road closed and will remain closed for almost a month. At 9 a.m. crews closed off Hawthorne Lane between Elizabeth Avenue and East 5th Street to make repairs on the storm water and sewer system buried there. Commuters say construction will make the busy road more of a headache.
“The buses they already move slow on their time as it is and by Elizabeth halfway being shutdown, I don’t know for how long now, it’s going to make them even slower people are going to be late for work,” said Marsha Springs, East Charlotte resident.
People trying to get into Novant Hospital can still use the main hospital entrance. Everybody else will have to follow detours.
