The new iPhone is not even out yet, and the Internet is already buzzing about it. Β Some of the buzz is good, some not so good, leaving people to wonder if it’s worth the trouble to buy the latest and greatest thing. Β And that’s a concept that goes way beyond phones.

There’s tons of old school tech out there that proves “newer” doesn’t always mean “better”. Β When it comes to tech, it’s nearly impossible to stay ahead of the curve. Β Something called “Moore’s Law” states that technological advances grow at an exponential rate. Β Buy the new iPhone later this month, and it’s already almost outdated.

And it’s not just computery stuff that’s evolved. Β Think about music… we went from records, to cassettes, to CDs, to mp3s. Β And now records are cool again! Β Audiophiles will tell you that digital reproduction doesn’t capture the “warmth” of analog. Β And when you rip an mp3 to your computer, you’re probably doing it at the lowest possible quality. Β Chalk up one for old school.

Our Man on the Edge, Robert Wilder, hit the streets to find out: What’s the oldest tech you still use today?
