CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Wilson was at Ayrsley this morning where he was talking about his favorite thing…the USO of N.C. and learned more about the Mission Motorsport Exchange Program. The program has become a wonderful opportunity to help wounded veterans from around the world to connect with motorsports to aid in their recovery, rehabilitation, vocational support and training.
Jim Cameron and Rich Bernard co-founders of Mission Motorsport explained why and how they began the program. Soldiers from the United Kingdom Darren Kamara and Ashley James told Wilson how exciting and personal the experience has been for them. N.C. State Representative Grier Martin, who is a veteran, and Jon Reid, retired SSgt USMC, discussed their involvement in the program and why it is so important to them.
UNC Charlotte is heavily involved with the exchange program through their N.C. Motorsports & Automotive Research Center. Wilson talked with Dr. Mesbah Uddin, Director of the Research Center, about their participation in the program.
John Falkenbury, President of the USO of North Carolina, met up with Wilson to give us a tour through the new USO of N.C. Mobile Center. The USO of N.C. is always looking for volunteers and donations. Find out how you can help at their weblink listed below.
Wilson sends a special thanks to everyone at Ayrsley for their hospitality today.
