CHARLOTTE,NC–After months of pleading for a cross walk at a dangerous intersection in east Charlotte residents are finally getting their way.
Tuesday, residents learned about a new pedestrian safety plan for the intersection at Sugar Creek rd and Eastway drive.
The intersection is where a car hit and killed 18 year old Brittany Palmer as she walked to Garinger high school in 2012.
Brittany’s mom says she is happy to see a plan finally taking shape.
Charlotte D.O.T laid out a plan Tuesday that includes a cross walk and a stoplight on Eastway dr.
Work on the project is expected to begin this spring and will finish in summer of 2015.
