A task force is preparing to present recommendations to revamp the board. Civil Rights Leaders say the death of 24-year-old Jonathan Ferrell is proof something needs to be done. Officer Randall Kerrick is charged with killing Ferrell last week.
We’ve learned Monday a task force will recommend not giving the board the power to conduct independent investigations or to subpoena witnesses.
They also want to make it easier to have a full hearing. Right now that can only happen if there’s proof that the police chief abused his power.
The task force will also recommend the CRB give a reason.. in writing.. why an appeal was denied.
But some people are saying the recommendations aren’t enough.
