TEGA CAY, S.C. – Tega Cay residents learned about the city’s plans to stop repeated raw sewage spills into Lake Wylie on Monday. They include repairing the water system or pumping wastewater to Rock Hill or York County. Residents want Utilities Inc to pay up for the damage its system has caused. Some are ready to take legal action.
“I just hope that the city will stay actively involved with this and find a solution from the city’s point of view,” said Tega Cay resident Linda Stevenson.
Tega Cay mayor George Sheppard and others will travel to Columbia tomorrow to speak with a state leader about possible violations of the federal clean water act.
