CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Three people are in custody after an officer-involved shooting Sunday Morning. Β Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police responded to a call at 3:55 a.m. about an armed person. Β The caller said they saw people sitting in a vehicle loading guns. Β
Police said that when officers arrived and exited their patrol vehicles, the suspects shot at the officers. Β Officer Anthony Holzhauer and Officer David Sussman returned fire but the suspects fled in the vehicle. Β Other CMPD officers attempted to stop the vehicle but were unable. Β
The chase led them into Cabarrus County where the vehicle was stopped with help from the Cabarrus County Sheriff’s Office. Β All three people in the vehicle were taken into custody. Β Two firearms were found inside the vehicle. Β No one was injured during the incident. Β
As policy and procedure, Officer Holzhauer and Officer Sussman have been placed on Administrative Leave pending the shooting investigation. Β
