CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Three people are in custody after an officer-involved shooting Sunday Morning. Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police responded to a call at 3:55 a.m. about an armed person. The caller said they saw people sitting in a vehicle loading guns.
Police said that when officers arrived and exited their patrol vehicles, the suspects shot at the officers. Officer Anthony Holzhauer and Officer David Sussman returned fire but the suspects fled in the vehicle. Other CMPD officers attempted to stop the vehicle but were unable.
The chase led them into Cabarrus County where the vehicle was stopped with help from the Cabarrus County Sheriff’s Office. All three people in the vehicle were taken into custody. Two firearms were found inside the vehicle. No one was injured during the incident.
As policy and procedure, Officer Holzhauer and Officer Sussman have been placed on Administrative Leave pending the shooting investigation.
