CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Changes to a federal loan program has students and local leaders speaking out.  Congressman Mel Watt joined Dr. Ron Carter, President of Johnson C. Smith University to fight back against the Obama administration’s failure to change a policy they say is hurting minority students.

In 2011 the Department of Education made stricter credit standards for the “Parents Plus Loan Program.”  The school announced $3 million in cuts just last week that includes 21 staff layoffs.
