CHARLOTTE, NC– Thousands of Charlotte shoppers got a head start on Black Friday deals by heading to big-name retailers on Thanksgiving.
Stores like Toys R Us and Best Buy opened their doors hours earlier than they have in the past. For local shoppers, cashing in on hot holiday deals has become a Thanksgiving tradition.
This is true for Laurie Mohler and her family. They stood in line for 6 hours on Thursday to score a new 42″ flatscreen TV, a laptop and a camera.
“It’s a tradition,” says Mohler, “I always look for the good deals.”
But she’s not alone. According to the National Retail Federation, 33 million shoppers will head to big retail stores on Thanksgiving to cash in on hot holiday deals.
For Mohler, pushing back her Thanksgiving feast just a few hours is worth hundreds of dollars in savings.
“Marry Christmas to us!,” says Mohler.
